About North Desk
About North Desk
North Desk is an independent digital news publication dedicated to rigorous, credible journalism from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Chandigarh. Launched in March 2026, it was founded on a simple conviction — that North India deserves serious, fearless reporting on its own terms, free from corporate pressure and political influence.
North Desk covers the full spectrum of the region’s public life —crime and courts, business, politics and NRI-related issues — with the same standards that have guided good journalism for generations. Its audience is the engaged reader in the region and the large North Indian diaspora worldwide that remains deeply connected to home.
The tagline says it plainly: North India. For the World.
About the Editor
Arvind Chhabra is a Chandigarh-based journalist with over 25 years of experience across print, television, and digital media. He is the Founder & Editor of North Desk.
Arvind has worked with some of India’s most respected media organisations — Indian Express, Hindustan Times, Star News, India Today, News X, and BBC News — across two decades of reporting and editing. At BBC News, where he served as Senior Journalist across two stints spanning nearly a decade, he covered stories of national and international significance, including the Delhi Farmer Agitation and Tokyo Olympics. At India Today, he served as Bureau Chief for Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, overseeing regional coverage across one of India’s most politically significant zones.
Based primarily in Chandigarh, Arvind has reported extensively across beats — crime and courts to politics and sports — with deep roots in the Punjab-Haryana region. He founded North Desk in March 2026 to bring rigorous, independent journalism to North India and its global diaspora.
