Dharamsala/Chandigarh, May 12

She was born in Jammu, finished her MBA in Chandigarh, and made her Bollywood debut opposite Ranveer Singh. Now, Samreen Kaur is in the headlines — not just for her work, but for who she appears to be walking beside.

A fan-recorded video from the streets of Dharamsala, posted on May 11, showed Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh strolling through a local market alongside Samreen Kaur, the two walking without any security cover ahead of Punjab Kings’ IPL 2026 clash against Delhi Capitals at the HPCA Stadium. The clip went viral within hours. A surprised onlooker could be heard saying, “Yeh dekho koi security nahi” — the casual, unguarded outing of a top Indian cricketer proving as striking as the company he was keeping.

Neither Arshdeep nor Samreen has confirmed a relationship. But the sighting was not the first. Days earlier, a video had surfaced of Arshdeep walking out of an airport carrying several bags while Samreen walked alongside him, triggering a lively internet debate — some criticising, others calling it straightforward chivalry. Speculation had actually begun weeks earlier, when Arshdeep shared a Snapchat story featuring a photograph of him holding a woman’s hand. Although the image did not reveal any faces, observant followers quickly identified a distinct “੧” (Ik Onkar) tattoo on the woman’s hand and connected it to Samreen.

The North India journey

Who is Samreen Kaur? was born on 7 September 1999 in Jammu and Kashmir. Her mother is a government college professor, and her father is a businessman in the educational supplies sector. The household valued education — but Samreen had other ideas forming alongside her studies.

She completed her B.Com (Honours) degree at Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce in Pune. She later returned north for an MBA from Chandigarh — a city that would become central to her early professional life as well.

The pivot from academics to the spotlight came in 2018, when Samreen entered the Femina Miss India competition and was selected as a state finalist representing Jammu and Kashmir. It was the launchpad she needed. Modelling assignments followed, then music videos, then film.

Building a body of work

Who is Samreen Kaur? She is best known for her roles in Sardaar Ji 2 (2016), Nail Polish (2021), and 83 (2021), as well as her appearances in several popular music videos by artists such as Badshah, Guru Randhawa, and Maninder Buttar.

Her role in 83 is the one most people point to. She played Simran, the fiancée of Ammy Virk’s character Balwinder Singh Sandhu, in Kabir Khan’s sports drama headlined by Ranveer Singh. In Nail Polish, she played the role of Charu Raina in the ZEE5 legal thriller starring Arjun Rampal and Manav Kaul.

In parallel, she built a significant social media presence. Her Instagram following now stands at over five million — a number that reflects not just entertainment industry reach but genuine pull among younger audiences in Punjab and the wider North India diaspora.

The Arshdeep connection

Arshdeep Singh, who lives near Kharar in Mohali in Punjab, has recently scripted history as the first bowler to take 100 wickets for the Punjab Kings franchise in IPL. He is, on the field, one of the most important players in the PBKS lineup this season. Off it, his personal life has become equally talked about.

In the Dharamsala videos, the two were seen walking hand-in-hand through the local markets, and what struck onlookers as much as the couple themselves was the absence of any security detail — unusual for a cricketer of Arshdeep’s stature, and reflective of the grounded public persona he has cultivated.

For now, neither has made an official statement. But between the Snapchat stories, the airport sightings, the stadium appearances, and the Dharamsala stroll, the internet has largely made up its own mind.

Before we conclude, another point on who is Samreen Kaur! In Kabir Khan’s 83—a movie on India’s first World Cup win, she played the fiancée of Punjabi pace bowler Balwinder Singh Sandhu. In 2026, she finds herself linked to another — Arshdeep Singh, Punjab’s own left-arm pacer of this generation. Reel life, it seems, had a sense of humour.
