Hanuman Ansh Crosses ₹150 Crore, Beats Dhurandhar Record, Kantara Next

Hanuman Ansh Crosses ₹150 crore in India and is on course to beat Kantara’s all-time fifth-week record — the full day-by-day trajectory behind Bollywood’s biggest surprise of 2026.

Hanuman Ansh Crosses ₹150 crore: Hanuman Ansh’s number, as of Day 33 (September 8), stands at Rs 143.13 crore net in India, per trade tracker Sacnilk — with gross collections crossing Rs 150 crore according to multiple trackers, though exact gross figures vary by a few crore depending on source (Rs 155.65–156.63 crore range). The film added Rs 11 crore on its fifth Tuesday, a 10% jump over Monday’s Rs 10 crore, off 7,778 shows and 48% occupancy — numbers that would be respectable for a film in its opening week, let alone its fifth.

Hanuman Ansh Crosses ₹150 Crore: The climb, week by week
The trajectory is the actual story here, not any single day’s number:
- Week 1: Opened to Rs 10 lakh on Friday, Rs 20 lakh Saturday, Rs 30 lakh Sunday, dropping to Rs 10-13 lakh on weekdays. Total for the week: Rs 1.08 crore, on 200 screens.
- Week 2: Barely moved — added just Rs 40 lakh, taking the cumulative total to Rs 1.48 crore. Still on 200 screens.
- Week 3: The turn. The film added Rs 10.40 crore for the week as screens expanded to 400.
- Week 4: The real break — Rs 57.25-61 crore in a single week (trackers differ slightly), second only to Dhurandhar’s fourth week among Hindi films ever. Screens jumped again, to 850.
- Week 5: Records falling by the day. The fifth weekend (Friday-Sunday) alone brought in Rs 49.25 crore net — trade reports say this beat Dhurandhar’s entire fifth-week total, not just its weekend. Day 31 (the fifth Sunday) delivered Rs 22.75 crore, the first time any Hindi film has crossed Rs 20 crore on a fifth Sunday, and pushed the film past the Rs 100 crore net mark. Trade outlet Box Office India now projects the film could beat Kantara’s (2022) all-time record for the biggest fifth week ever recorded for a film in India, in any language.

The number that trade circles are actually stuck on: the budget
Reported budget figures vary — Koimoi cites Rs 1.8 crore, while producers themselves have described a Rs 2 crore production cost plus Rs 1 crore in prints-and-advertising, for a Rs 3 crore total. Even at the higher figure, a film that’s crossed Rs 150 crore gross represents one of the largest theatrical returns on investment in Hindi cinema history — Koimoi calculated a 6,685% ROI at the Rs 1.8 crore budget figure as of Day 31 alone, before the film had even crossed Rs 150 crore.
Trade watchers are now placing it alongside the 1975 devotional hit Jai Santoshi Maa as one of the two or three biggest ROI stories Bollywood has seen.
What makes the run more striking is that it has continued to grow screens and collections even after losing shows to Mirzapur: The Movie’s release mid-run — one trade report described it as a “spillover,” where the film’s own noise is now pulling in general audiences curious about the phenomenon, not just Baba’s existing devotees.
Director Anubhav Sinha weighed in publicly on the pattern, saying Hanuman Ansh and Mirzapur “are not freak hits,” and that the industry needs to watch the trend carefully rather than dismiss it as an anomaly.
Cast and crew
The film is written, directed and produced by Vishal Chaturvedi, along with co-producers Anupriya Nagar, Namrata G Singh and Ragini Sona, based on Chaturvedi’s own book Divine Detour: That Changed My Life. It stars Shobhinaw Satyaa as the young Lakshman Narayan Sharma who becomes Neem Karoli Baba, alongside Vihaan Shedge, Chandan Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil Rastogi, Gulshan Pandey and Bhagvandas. Vishal Bawa is the cinematographer, Shankh Rajadhyaksha the editor, and Sadhu Sushil Tiwari composed the music.

200 Crore Next!
Hanuman Ansh releases overseas via Hombale Films on September 11 — the 53rd anniversary of Baba’s mahasamadhi — with its entire India run already banked before that number is even added. Based on current trends, trade trackers are now projecting a run toward Rs 200 crore net domestically. The film has been positioned as the first of a planned trilogy on Baba’s life.
