Why Are Jio IPO Ads Everywhere Right Now?
Reliance is running one of its most aggressive retail-focused campaigns in years. The goal is clear: maximise participation from ordinary investors, not just institutions.
The company has reserved:
– Up to ₹2,500 crore for eligible Reliance Industries shareholders (individuals and HUFs who held RIL shares as on 14 October 2026)
– Up to ₹500 crore for eligible Jio Platforms employees (with a ₹54 per share discount)
This dual reservation strategy, combined with the emotional pull of the Jio brand, explains the wall-to-wall advertising. The campaign is designed to turn the IPO into a national participation event rather than a pure institutional exercise.
Jio Platforms IPO Valuation and Grey Market Premium
At the upper end of the price band, Jio Platforms is seeking a valuation of around ₹10.3 lakh crore (approximately $108 billion).
Unofficial grey market premium (GMP) was reported around ₹201 per share (roughly 18% premium over the upper band) as of 14 October evening. Grey market prices can change sharply and should not be treated as a guarantee of listing gains.
How to Apply for Jio Platforms IPO
1. Check your demat account for RIL shareholding as on 14 October if you want to apply under the shareholder reservation category.
2. Apply via ASBA through your bank, broker app (Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, etc.), or UPI.
3. Lot size is 12 shares. You can apply in multiples of 12.

Use of Proceeds
Of the funds raised, approximately ₹27,500 crore is earmarked for repayment of debt at the material subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm. The balance will go towards general corporate purposes (capped at 25% of the issue size).
What Investors Should Watch
– Strong anchor book interest is expected on 19 October.
– Retail response will be closely tracked given the heavy advertising.
– Listing performance will depend on overall market sentiment and the final subscription numbers.
– Existing investors (Meta, Google and others) are not selling shares in this IPO.
Jio Lays Out Its Next Growth Roadmap
Meanwhile, speaking to journalists in Mumbai, Jio Platforms Managing Director Akash Ambani identified three key growth engines for the company — Mobility, The Home, and Enterprise & International.
Jio currently has around 533 million connectivity customers and carries more than 60% of India’s data traffic.
In Mobility, Jio sees an industry opportunity of around 340 million new 4G and 5G additions between FY26 and FY31. Akash said this includes about 100 million Indians who are expected to get a mobile connection for the first time, while another 240 million users could migrate from 2G to 4G and 5G.
The Home is another major growth engine. Jio currently has around 28.6 million fixed broadband customers and sees the potential to take its home base to 100 million. In FY26, Jio accounted for about 67.5% of India’s net fixed broadband additions. Akash said the company is combining fibre with its own wireless technology to expand its reach across nearly 19,000 pin codes.
Jio sees an addressable enterprise digital services opportunity of around ₹5.1 lakh crore, or US$56.8 billion, in India. Akash said nearly 65% of bank branches in the country are connected on Jio’s network, with the company offering services beyond connectivity, including security and video surveillance.
Bottom Line
The Jio Platforms IPO is not just another public issue — it is being positioned as a landmark moment for Indian capital markets and for retail investors who have watched Jio transform the country’s digital landscape since 2016.
